The Cycles of Raukatauri
An Ukuhiko Taonga Pūoro Series #2
The Cycles of Raukatauri - Chrysalis - explores the relationship between light, colour, and luminosity. The series draws inspiration from the life cycle of the case moth, whose form represents Hine Raukatauri, the atua of music and taonga pūoro. Through four interconnected taonga - from egg to larva, sheltered mother to winged father - each form reflects a stage in the journey of becoming.
Taonga pūoro are ancestral sound technologies that foster connection with the natural world. Through material, form, and frequency, this collection brings together traditional knowledge and contemporary design.
